4 Easy Home Remedies Best for Curing Dandruff

Nothing can make you feel more embarrassed than someone noticing white glittering flakes on your favourite black attire that you wore to the party. Leave lighting up the party, you would start looking for places to hide.

Does this happen to you? Are you avoiding wearing your blacks and chasing only whites just because you have dandruff?

If yes, then buckle up because this article is the solution to all your problems.

Don’t worry, it’s not just another product recommendation. This time we are going to follow Theodore Roosevelt who said, “Do what you can, with what you have and where you are.”

This is exactly what we are gonna do to help you get rid of your dandruff. We will be using home remedies to cure your dandruff problem.

Let’s start:

1. Lemon & Coconut Oil

No matter what your hair concern is, if you ask your grandmother or mother, she would most probably suggest Coconut Oil. You might have just ignored this elixir thinking that it’s just a hoax. However, it’s exactly what you need to deal with your hair’s greatest nemesis - dandruff.

You just need to take enough Coconut Oil and heat it before adding a few drops of lemon juice to it. You have to massage your scalp gently using this concoction and wash it off after 20 minutes. You will be amazed to see the results.

2. Baking Soda

You must know that one of the reasons for dandruff is the accumulation of dead skin cells on your scalp. So, it’s necessary to get rid of them regularly and you have a great exfoliator at your home to help you with that - Baking Soda. Yes, apart from adding fluff to your cakes, biscuits and pancakes, it also removes dead skin from the scalp. It also balances your scalp’s pH and is effective against fungal growth. You just need a handful of baking soda and scrub your scalp with it. Wash it off with warm water after 20 minutes. Avoid using shampoo after this. Your scalp will feel unloaded and fresh. Try once a week.

3. Curd or Yoghurt

While you love putting curd in your curries and vegetables to add texture and savouriness, you avoid its effectiveness when it comes to hair health. Don’t be surprised! This creamy & densely textured dairy product can do wonders for your hair. As you know, people with dry scalp are more prone to dandruff and Curd, with its moisturizing properties, helps with that. It soothes itchiness as it is inflammatory in nature. It reduces dandruff by fighting against Malassezia - fungi responsible for dandruff. To get the best out of this amazing product, you should apply it to your hair and scalp and then let it dry. Wash off after an hour with a mild shampoo to get a dandruff-free scalp and conditioned hair.

4. Neem

You must have seen brands promoting their products as Neem-based and people going gaga over them. You should try Neem in its purest form and see its effectiveness. The benefits of Neem are numerous for overall health and especially for dandruff and other hair-related concerns. Apart from that, it is less fussy to use. You just need to take a few Neem leaves and crush them to make a thick paste. Apply it to your hair and let it dry for 10 minutes. A quick heads up, you might not like the smell but you would certainly love the results. After 10 minutes, you should wash it off and embrace healthy and happy hair bereft of dandruff. So, the next time you go for a jog, get a hold of a few fresh Neem leaves from a nearby tree.

5. Other Natural But Quick Fix

We hope you found the best way to deal with your dandruff from the ones described above. If you are not sure about the aforementioned remedies, you can also try using Tea Tree Oil, Egg Yolk, Apple Cider Vinegar and Orange Peel. All these are equally effective and they work like magic. Just go with whatever floats your boat.

However, if you are someone who is not into DIY, there is a scientifically proven product that can buff away dandruff. Loaded with one of the best exfoliators, Coffee, it is India’s first Coffee Scalp Scrub. It is proven to get rid of 99% dandruff causing microbes in just a single wash. Ain’t that convenient?

Do let us know about your experience if you try any of these cures at home. You can also add your remedies for dandruff that worked for you.
