If done right and regularly, there are many body scrub benefits that you can enjoy.

If scrubbing is done regularly, it helps with :

  1. Unclogging your pores and thus, preventing annoying ingrown hair,
  2. Removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and in turn, allow your skin to absorb moisturizer and other skincare products better,
  3. Making your skin smoother and healthier by removing dry skin that makes it rough to touch.

Body Scrubs at Home

  1. Coffee Scrub
    Coffee is one of the most easily found ingredients but it’s also one of the most beneficial and useful ones. It’s rich in antioxidants and helps in cellulite reduction too. It’s tiny granules are gentle on the skin, yet highly effective at removing dead cells from the skin’s surface. It smells heavenly and refreshing too, so that’s an added bonus.

    What do you need to make this scrub?
    1/2 cup coffee grounds
    2 tbsp. hot water
    1 tbsp. coconut oil, warmed

    Simply add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix till you get the desired consistency. In case you don’t have coffee grounds, you can also use coffee powder as a last resort and add some sugar granules to it.

  2. Sugar and honey body scrub

Sugar scrub is one of the most popular and easy to make body scrub at home and can be changed as per your preference. Sugar is a great and inexpensive exfoliant. Combined with honey, with its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, it makes for a good skin-nourishing body scrub at home.

    What do you need to make this scrub?
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
    2 tbsp. honey

    Simply add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix till you get the desired consistency. You can replace brown sugar with refined sugar if the former isn’t available. Remember to rinse the scrub well after use to avoid stickiness.
  3. Oatmeal honey and yogurt body scrub
    Oatmeal is becoming a common healthy meal option in households, and guess what? Using it as a scrub is also healthy for your skin! It can soak up excess oil and help treat acne. Yogurt has anti-inflammatory properties and the lactic acid in it adds an extra hint of gentle exfoliation.

    What do you need to make this scrub?
    2 tablespoons of oats (grinded)
    4 tablespoons of yogurt
    2 teaspoons of warm honey

    Simply add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix till you get the desired consistency. You can also try mixing grinded oatmeal, coconut oil and sugar to make a different but equally good body scrub at home.
  4. Himalayan salt body scrub
    Salt sounds like a strange addition to a body scrub, right? But it makes for a great natural ingredient with antibacterial properties. It also lasts long being a natural preservative so you don’t have to worry.

    What do you need to make this scrub?
    1/2 cup himalayan sea salt
    1/2 cup oil of your choice (we prefer olive oil)
    essential oils (optional)

    Combine sea salt and oil in a mixing bowl and then stir in a drop or two of the essential oil of your choice. Your easy yet effective scrub is ready! Make sure you don’t put this on a cut or rub harshly as it might sting.
  5. Besan or Gram Flour Scrub
    The last but not the least is our grandma-recommended besan scrub. Besan or gram flour is a wonderful ingredient for oily skin and has exfoliating properties. Using this scrub can be beneficial in a variety of ways and is really easy to make.

    What do you need to make this scrub?
    2 tsp of gram flour/besan
    1 tsp of milk
    1 pinch of turmeric

    Take all the ingredients and mix them thoroughly in a bowl till you get your desired consistency. Just make sure that the besan is coarse and not very powdery.

How to apply a scrub?

Step 1 : Rinse your skin with warm water.
Step 2 : Apply a good amount of scrub all over and spread it well.
Step 3 : Massage all over using gentle circular motions.
Step 4 : Leave it in for 2-3 minutes and then rinse thoroughly using warm water.
Step 5 : Pat skin dry and finish by applying some moisturiser.

#McaffeineTip : When used in moderation, there are several body scrub benefits. So, make sure you don’t exfoliate more than twice a week as it can be harsh on skin if overdone.
